Children’s Formation (Sunday School)

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church Children’s Education Information

Sunday School Sunday School

•  We have programs for all ages—from birth to teens.

  • Nursery in the rear of the church for newborns through toddlers for the 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. services.
  • Sunday School for preschoolers through high school age students.
  • Youth Group programs for grades 7 through 12 are in the evenings and on weekends.

Sunday School takes place every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

  • Preschool in room 10
  • Pre-K/K/1st grade in room 7
  • 2nd and 3rd grade in room 6
  • 4-6 Club in room 5
  • Rite 13 (for junior high students) in room 8
  • God Talks (for high school students) in rooms 1 and 2

Our curriculum for Preschool through sixth grade is called Weaving God’s Promises. It was written especially for Episcopal churches. Rite 13 is an amazing program for junior high students that has two pieces: a Bible study and a meeting that focuses on team-building, Episcopal traditions, and teen issues. God Talks is a brand-new program this year. It uses media clips and music to prompt discussions around topics such as friends, identity, choices, and other timely issues for them.

Sunday School teachers are volunteers from the congregation who have been trained and background checked.

A typical day in Sunday School includes:

  • A gathering activity promptly at 10 a.m.
  • A Bible story reading and re-telling
  • A craft, game, or other activity
  • Closing time including clean up, the Episcopal thread, and prayer

We all return to church at the Peace so we can participate in the Eucharist with our families.

What can you do to support our programs?

  • We always need volunteers. At the moment we have spaces open for playground supervisors, chapel teachers, and substitute teachers
  • Our crafts require some supplies you might have in your home. Check the Stone to see what our needs are.
