Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
Celebrated the day before Ash Wednesday, Shrove Tuesday (also known as Mardi Gras) is the final day before the 40-day period of Lent begins.
Shrove Tuesday is a day of indulging in the rich, fatty foods that were traditionally abstained from during Lent. Historically making pancakes was a way to use up butter, milk, sugar and eggs before the 40-day fast.
