St. Stephens Preschool 2024-2025 Priority Registration (google.com)

First opening its doors in 1969 as a ministry of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, the preschool offers a traditional half-day and full-day preschool program for children ages 2-5 years. Classes meet 2, 3 or 5 days per week. We also offer a 1-morning per week Parent/Toddler program.

St. Stephen’s welcomes all children regardless of religion, race, national origin, ancestry or family configuration. Basic Judeo-Christian values of love, acceptance, and inclusiveness are lived out by everyone at the preschool.

Our staff members are trained in the field of Early Childhood Education. The longevity of our staff provides continuity from year to year as we offer a nurturing environment where children can grow and flourish.

WHAT IS A HIGH QUALITY PROGRAM?

St. Stephen’s Preschool provides a safe and nurturing environment where the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of young children is promoted.

We've adopted a "whole child" and "play based" approach.  Backed by research (Applied Development Science (Darling-Hammond ed. al, 2019), the whole-child approach provides children with age-appropriate experiences across all childhood developmental domains.  Teachers engage their students with meaningful experiences, catering to each individual child.  St. Stephens Preschool allows for an emergent curriculum, based on each child's needs and interests.

Play is a fundamental principle in the whole-child approach and is recognized as "the most effective approach for supporting children's health, learning, and overall well-being." (California Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond 2021).

St. Stephen's children and families experience frequent, positive and warm interactions with teachers and administration.  Every day our students experience a play-based curriculum that includes building and block play, sensory play, language and literacy, math and science, active outdoor play and more!  Our trained staff receive ongoing professional development, and we provide a very healthy teacher to child ratio.

St. Stephen’s Preschool has earned accreditation from the Diocese of Los Angeles as well as praise from teachers in the local elementary schools. St. Stephen’s Preschool is a member of the Santa Clarita Valley Faith-based Preschool Fellowship, The Diocesan Commission on Schools and the National Association of Episcopal Schools.
